Reporting

The system renders its own reports, with no third-party reporting engine and no licence attached to them. Eighteen reports are live on a curated shelf instead of an open catalogue of everything the old system could produce. That was a conscious decision: a short shelf of reports that are correct is of more use than a long list of reports nobody has checked.

The shelf

  • Trial balance, balance sheet and chart of accounts
  • Profit and loss statement and its monthly summary
  • Sales by region, as a statement and as a monthly summary
  • Accounts payable and receivable listings, with their detail and open items
  • Slovak purchases and sales listings
  • Bank reconciliation status
  • Fixed asset register
  • Financial analysis
  • Two property reports: revenue and costs, and apartment occupancy city tax

Built for paper first. The on-screen rendering was removed early on the owner's instruction. A run opens a standalone print sheet measured in millimetres, sized A4 or A3 landscape according to how many columns the data actually needs, carrying the entity's own logo read from its record. The download arrow produces a true PDF by printing that same rendered page through a headless browser, so what is downloaded and what is printed cannot differ.

Assumption register. Every report set ships with one. Each judgement that could be wrong:

  • is given a number and recorded in a register under the project's documentation;
  • is tagged in a comment beside the line of code it governs;
  • carries a risk rating and a note naming the SQL that would settle it.

A numbered guess is a recorded decision that can be checked later. An unrecorded guess is a defect that has not been found yet.
